A major work of ELA in 3rd grade is to ask and answer questions
to demonstrate understanding of a text,
referring explicitly to the
text as a basis for the
answers. Students need to be able to refer to important information and details in order to justify their answers and opinions - both during discussions and in writing. To this end, we have started working on using direct quotations as evidence to prove our answers, as well as explanations that connect how our chosen evidence supports our answers. It's all about "ACEing" our writing!!
Ask your child to explain Oral Writing, sing our Citing Evidence Song to you, or explain the TTQA (Turn That Question Around) strategy - you are bound to be impressed!! 😊
