Fall Intersession, School Pictures, and more...

This week the fourth grades classes had the opportunity to tan leather and make bookmarks. Ms. Joe from the Tandy Leather Company provided a wonderful hands-on lesson!!!

Lincoln Pierce, the author/illustrator of the Big Nate books, also came to talk to the 3rd and 4th graders this week. The children loved trying their hand at cartooning!

Day 8 (of the Big Nate Tour) -- Magical Memphis

I visited two fantastic schools in and around Memphis, Tennessee today. The first was Riverwood Elementary in Cordova...Then it was on to Campus Elementary School, which is about to celebrate its centennial. It got its name because it's located right on the campus of the University of Memphis. The kids, 3rd and 4th graders, had a lot of cartooning knowledge and enthusiasm. My three assistants, all of whom were very good sports, were Brianna, Christopher, and Lily. Other kids who contributed were Taj, Patrick, Ivy, Andrew, and Addie. And of course I must mention my friend, Truth...And Nancy, the librarian at Campus Elementary, kept things humming along. I had a great time in Memphis and hope to visit again soon!

Free to Be...

You and Me!

Fall is in the air! Please go to http://www.campusschool.org and click the Fall Intersession link to print off a registration form. I hope that some of you will join Mr. Shadow and I, as we prepare to go back in time - all the way back to 1972 - when kids were "Free to Be You and Me!"

• Registration: September 15th and 16th
• Time: 7:30 am - 2:00 pm
• Cost: $70.00 per session, or $140.00 for a full day session
• Payment is due at registration and is non-refundable. Remember, PAYMENT MUST BE MADE IN CASH ONLY.
• Classes will be assigned on a “first-come, first-served” basis. Please turn in your child’s completed registration form at the Intersession registration table, located in the hall near the school office. DO NOT SEND IT WITH YOUR CHILD, OR TO THE TEACHER!

Also, just a reminder that school pictures will be taken on Thursday, September 15th. Please remember that you MUST PAY IN ADVANCE, if you want your child to have a school picture taken on the 15th.

Finally, the Confucius Institute at the University of Memphis (CIUM) will begin Chinese instruction  next week. Our class instruction times will be Mondays from 12:40pm - 1:10pm, and Wednesdays from 2:00-2:30.
