Weekly Update

I hope everyone enjoyed their three day weekend! Here is what's going on this week...

• To culminate our study of lifecycles and inherited traits, each student in the class will be creating “lifecycle of a human” sequencing cards. In place of EPGY this week, I am asking for students to create sequencing cards using photographs from each stage of their life – newborn, infant, toddler, young child, and finally, child. To finish out the sequencing cards, students will also need a photograph of a teenager, a young adult, an adult, and a mature adult. This is where photographs of you come in! Pictures of older brothers or sisters, mothers, fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers at these various stages in life would be ideal for this project, as we are also working on the concept of how children inherit traits from their parents. However, if family photographs are not available, using pictures from magazines is always an option. Index cards will be attached to a letter going home tomorrow. All students need to do is glue a photograph on one side of an index card, and label the life stage on the back. There are nine index cards in all to reflect the life stages – newborn, infant, toddler, young child, child, teenager, young adult, adult, and mature adult. Let me know if you have any questions…

• School picture day is Thursday, February 24th.  We have learned some new information that I hope will clear up some confusion. Lifetouch will be photographing students and printing packages for students bringing in payment on or before Portrait Day.  They will be taking both group and individual pictures. The group picture informational flyer and individual portrait informational flyer went home on different days last week. If you are interested in both group and individual pictures, you will need to send money in with both flyers separately.
• Jump Rope for Heart is coming up on March 4th.  If you would like your child to participate, please send in the permission slip.
• Congratulations to the Campus School Book Fair!  We raised over $9,300!  
• Also, be on the look out tomorrow for information regarding our field trip to see the Memphis Redbirds...
